jeff holmes i was born a weak and sickly pup... the smallest of a litter of four. Just breathing with regularity for my first six months was my primary concern (or was is sh*tting...?) My owners let me wander out in traffic when i was four and I was run over by a pontiac in the summer of '69 (hmmmm ? could be a song... quick! get brian adams!) Okay seriously, my dad was a self-taught guitar picker and quite a good singerand not too bad at the harp, eitherso music was just part of growing-up, really... My first memories of "wow, listen to this sh*t" was hearing my mother's Roy Orbison tape. (8 track that is) I was hooked on his haunting vocals and sad tales of life and love. Then on to pretty much all of the Motown stuff from the sixties and early seventies as well as seventies rock/pop satisfied my listening addictions through to my early teens.... Then came Zeppelin!! Hendrix and P-O-T... OOOOOOOOOH YEEEAAAAHHH sweet rock and roll. It just is not possible to list all the music that I loved back then because I love almost all of it. Now on to my discovery of my own voice and musical abilities. I guess I owe my start to my father. My first attempt at an instument was the drums.... I would rate myself as a 3 on a 10 scale. I was really too chickensh*t to sing (in front of humans at least) until I was 18 or 19, at which point I guess I would say thank you to Larry for coaxing me into my first band. We called ourselves MASER. (named for the street that Larry lived on) We also made it an acronym.... are you ready for this? here goes... Music-Amplified-by Stimulated-Emissions-of-Rhythm. That band saw several members come and go and then it was no more. (if any of you guys ever read this... I love you all) Life, as it always does, just kinda' happened along until I met Pete Novack who invited me one night after work to sit-in with some of the guys from work and magic happened as we all became a band called Pepperhead (thanks to my loving wife for that name) Pepperhead eventually gave way to the band that we are today which by my account is the greatest discovery of love for a friend and for music that I have ever or ever will want to experience. Thanks more than I can say and in no particular order to Michael, Steven, Woody and Levi and all of your wives and mine for letting us play and supporting us. I love you guys... (A LOT) .....................................................
